CBD-infused coffee is taking the java world by storm. The hemp-infused caffeinated beverage craze is a relatively new trend, but it’s sweeping through cafes and coffee houses everywhere. In our quest for all things cozy, we’ve found a few CBD-infused coffees that have caught our eyes. So we’re rounding up the office to get their takes on these different cannabis-infused cup o’ joes.
Sträva Coffee
Madi: As someone who utilizes CBD all day long, and as a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, this was the solution I didn’t know I was looking for. I’ve been sipping on Sträva’s 250 mg and 500 mg CBD-infused Dark Roast Columbian blend for the last couple weeks and all I have to say is: game changer.
The first thing I do in the morning is turn on my coffee maker. I can’t start my day without it! The hemp-infused coffee changed my mornings. I could comfortably drink two (or three) cups without any jitters. I felt both the focus of the caffeine and the cozy calm of the CBD.
This was my first time trying a hemp-infused coffee, and I was expecting a lot more herbal flavor from the CBD. I couldn’t taste any! It was smooth with subtle notes of toasted marshmallow and cocoa, and just the right amount of bitterness. It was a delicious cup of coffee.
Alex: I also checked out Sträva Coffee’s Colombian Dark Roast. Each serving has 20 mg of CBD/broad spectrum hemp extract, and the bag contains 25 servings. The coffee is priced at $54.95.
I use a French press to make my coffee, so when I decided to give the product a go, I measured out two tablespoons and did my French press thing. I felt the effects pretty soon; I’m very sensitive to caffeine, so I felt energetic, but less jittery compared to when I drink regular coffee. The flavor profile was earthy, and I really picked up on the toasted marshmallow note that the tasting profile mentions. I do think the French press intensified the flavor profile and, all in all, made for a strong cup of coffee.
Sun State Hemp
Heather: I received Sun State Hemp’s Pumpkin Spice CBD Coffee as a gift from a coworker. Pumpkin spice isn’t usually my favorite coffee flavor, but it never fails to get me in the mood for the upcoming holidays.
First, I made sure to measure out the right dose: each serving calls for 2 tbsp of coffee per 6 oz of water, giving each brewed cup of coffee 300 mg of CBD.
The pumpkin spice flavor is exactly what you’d expect: a sweet taste with subtle hints of spice. As far as the CBD aftereffects go, I noticed that my body felt tamed and less jittery compared to a “normal” caffeine buzz.
I would recommend this coffee to any pumpkin spice lover; it’s a great balance between that iconic fall flavor and the calming effects of CBD.
Willie’s Remedy
Eden: I made a cup of Willie’s Summer Season Dark Blend: a bold, rich roast that combines your everyday coffee with full-spectrum hemp extract. My first question about hemp-infused coffee was whether or not it had a “hempy” taste like other products I’ve tried, but I didn’t notice any hints of hemp: even while trying the coffee black. I ended up adding a light creamer to slightly brighten the taste, which blended smoothly with the coffee’s bold cocoa flavor.
After a full cup, the coffee had kicked in like any coffee would; I felt awake and ready to start my day. Usually coffee makes me extremely jittery, so much so that my hands start to shake, but the hemp helped balance out that feeling. If you’re someone who needs a big pick-me-up in the morning you might consider something stronger, but this coffee is perfect for anyone who struggles with the uneasy, fidgety aftereffects that come with other coffee blends. The stimulating effects of coffee combined with the calming effects of hemp extract make for a nice afternoon pick-me-up: energizing without being overwhelming.
